Acceptable Use Policy

What you may not create with Smalltown Boy AI, how violations are handled, how to report content and how we moderate it.

Smalltown Boy AI uses artificial intelligence to generate dance videos from photos you upload. This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to everything that goes into the service (photos, choices you make in the generator) and everything that comes out of it (generated videos). It forms part of our Terms of Service. If the two conflict on content rules, this AUP applies.

1. Content standards

You may use Smalltown Boy AI only to make light-hearted dance videos of yourself, of people who have agreed to take part, or of your own pets. Every upload and every generated video must be lawful, consensual and suitable for a general audience.

2. Prohibited content

You must not upload, generate, request, or share through the service any content in the six categories below. These rules apply whether the content is the goal or a side effect, and whether it is real or synthetic.

2.1 Sexual and NSFW content

  • Nudity, sexual acts, sexual poses or sexually suggestive content of any kind.
  • Photos or outputs intended to undress, sexualise or fetishise anyone.
  • Content that is otherwise "not safe for work", including explicit or graphic material.

2.2 Violence and gore

  • Real or realistic violence, injury, blood, gore, mutilation or death.
  • Content that threatens, glorifies or encourages violence, self-harm, suicide or terrorism.
  • Weapons used against people, or content that depicts cruelty to animals.

2.3 Hate speech and harassment

  • Content that attacks, demeans or dehumanises people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, disability, serious disease, age or any other protected characteristic.
  • Hate symbols, slurs or extremist propaganda.
  • Content made to bully, humiliate, intimidate or harass a specific person.

2.4 Child safety (CSAM and minors)

  • Any child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or any sexualised, suggestive or exploitative depiction of a minor, real or AI-generated. We have zero tolerance for this category.
  • Photos of anyone under 18 uploaded without the consent of their parent or legal guardian.
  • Any content that endangers, grooms or exploits children.

Confirmed or suspected CSAM is removed immediately, the account is closed permanently, and we report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to the relevant authorities.

2.5 Deepfakes and impersonation

  • Photos of any person who has not agreed to appear in a generated video, including celebrities, public figures, politicians, colleagues, classmates or ex-partners.
  • Videos that pretend to be a real person in a way that could deceive viewers, damage that person's reputation, or be used for fraud, scams, political manipulation or misinformation.
  • Removing, hiding or misrepresenting the fact that a video is AI-generated when sharing it in a context where viewers could be misled.
  • Photos you do not have the right to use, such as images taken from someone else's account, stock photos you have not licensed, or professional photos without the photographer's permission.
  • Content built around third-party logos, brands, characters or other trademarks or copyrighted works in a way that infringes their owners' rights.
  • Using generated videos to pass yourself off as, or imply endorsement by, a brand, artist or rights holder.

Other misuse

You must also not attempt to bypass our safety filters, automate or resell access to the generator, upload malware, or use the service to break any applicable law.

3. How we handle violations

We look at the severity of the violation, whether it was intentional, and the account's history. Depending on the case we may:

  1. Remove content. Delete the uploaded photos and the generated video, and block the download link.
  2. Warn. Send a written warning to the email on the account.
  3. Restrict. Temporarily block video generation on the account.
  4. Suspend or terminate. Close the account, with or without notice. Credits used to create violating content are not refunded, and credits remaining on an account closed for a serious violation may be forfeited.
  5. Report. Report illegal content, especially CSAM or credible threats of violence, to law enforcement and the appropriate organisations, and keep the related records as the law requires.

Category 2.4 (child safety) always results in immediate termination. Serious violations of 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 and 2.5 may also lead straight to termination without a warning.

If you believe we made a mistake, reply to our notice or contact us within 14 days with the account email and any context. A person reviews every appeal and we reply within 5 business days.

4. How to report content

If you see a video made with Smalltown Boy AI that breaks this policy, or you believe your photo or likeness was used without your consent, tell us:

Please include a link to or copy of the video, where you saw it, which rule you think it breaks, and, for impersonation or copyright claims, how we can confirm you are the person or rights holder concerned. Reports are confidential: we do not tell the uploader who reported them.

We acknowledge reports within 48 hours and act on confirmed violations as described in section 3. Reports that involve minors are handled first.

5. How we moderate content

We combine automated checks with human review:

  • Before generation. Photos are checked for format and size and screened by our AI providers' safety systems before a render starts. Requests that trip these filters are refused and the credits are returned.
  • During generation. The video model applies its own content safety filters and refuses to render outputs it classifies as sexual, violent, sensitive or infringing. Every video follows a fixed, light-hearted dance storyboard, and users cannot add free-text prompts.
  • After generation. Generated videos are private to the account that made them. We review flagged or reported content, check accounts with repeated refusals, and may remove content or take action under section 3.
  • Records. We keep moderation decisions and reports for as long as needed to enforce this policy and meet legal obligations.

No automated system is perfect. You remain responsible for what you upload and share.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this AUP as the service or the law changes. We will change the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify account holders by email.
